Just how annoying are pop up mobile ads?

This is an interesting read on some neuromarketing research that's going on to measure ad annoyance, with the ultimate goal of reducing the use of ad blockers. The article explains that mobile interstitial ads may get more attention (and register higher levels of annoyance) than mobile banner ads, but they ultimately see the same amount of engagement.
